Perky Jerky Review

perky jerky1

I am not one for snacking, but when I am sitting here in front of my computer sometimes I just want something to get me through until it’s time for dinner. Plus you’ve got to give immediate love and respect to a product with a name like Perky Jerky.  Since cutting back on what I eat and the boyfriend making snacks that is way out of my calorie intake these days I found Perky Jerky to be a very good substitute.

turkey countJerky Perky Turkey is only 50 Calories per serving with 0 fat making this a very healthy snack. Now what I loved most about this Jerky was that it was not chewy like any other I have tried. It was juicy and tender. No fighting to chew it. It also was not spicy so even the kids enjoyed it. Turkey Perky Jerky comes with no MSG, no nitrates, and no preservatives. It relies on Guarana as its energy-inducing ingredient.

perky jerky2perky3Now I am not one for beef products because I do not like to eat red meat, but even the Perky Jerky Beef was great. Again the calories are low and the fat is 0. The first thing I taste from the surface of these pieces is a good deal of sweet, followed by a light saltiness, and a light tang.

The chewing texture starts out with a little bit of initial chewing resistance, but easily breaks down with nominal effort. Once chewed down to a soft mass, it tends to feel little mushy, somewhat gummy, and not at all like what you’d expect turkey meat to feel like.

This is by far the best Jerky I have ever came across, and will continue to be my go to snack at home and in the car.

Ebook: Hidden Under Her Heart (Romance)- Review

I love to read, so adding a book review page seemed to be ideal for me. My first book was an E-book offered to me. I am a sucker for romance books, and let me tell you this book dragged me right in from the beginning. Between taking care of the house and kids the only time I really got to read was at night, needless to say I had two sleepless nights because I was unable to put my Kindle down.

Hidden Under Her Heart   By Rachelle Ayala

Please visit Rachelle Ayala’s blog and Facebook page to keep up with her work.

Most woman I know can relate to Maryanne Torres. She is a compassionate nurse who always fails at relationships. After a string of losers, she swears off premarital sex, hoping to find a man worth her time. That’s when she meets Lucas Knight, a law-school dropout who moves to California to train for the Ironman Triathlon. He’s smart, sweet, and everything Maryanne (and every other female) wants in a guy. There relationship is rocky due to his training. Seeking consolation in the arms of a handsome preacher’s son, Maryanne attends a church party where she is raped.

Later Maryanne finds out she is pregnant.  Lucas asks Maryanne to look into alternatives and offers to support her through the pregnancy. When Lucas becomes the prime suspect, Maryanne must clear his name and make a life changing decision.

With her father in the way, her decision is hard, but he does not want to lose any evidence of the rape, so he can continue the suit against the church. Lucas also gets a few surprises from his own family and learns a lot about his mother and decisions she made throughout her life, giving him new perspectives on his own life.

The rapist has other ideas. In order to destroy the evidence, he offers Maryanne an illegal offshore abortion. With Maryanne’s life in danger, Lucas races to save her and the baby. However, Maryanne is hiding a secret that could threaten to tear them apart.

[Content Advisory: This book has a pro-life slant. There are a few swear words. The rape is not shown, but there is one mild sex scene between Maryanne and her boyfriend.]

if you are offended by sexual play between unmarried people and the f-word. This book deals with a controversial topic. The author has tried to be fair to both sides and present the story in its raw and emotional form.

Ebook (electronic book)  and/or paperback is available directly from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Smashwords

Mountain House Review and Giveaway- Ended

Today we decided we would start the product test for the many bags of freeze dried food from Mountain House.I got the kids up pretty early today to hit the store for wraps so we could start our test out right. Once I got home the first thing I did was reach for the frying pan, before grabbing our first bag of Mountain House Freeze Dried Breakfast Skillet. Good thing I read directions and was surprised to find I did not need the pan, nor a microwave. All we had to do was add 1 1/2 cups of boiling water to the bag stir and let it sit for 8-9 mins. The first thing I thought was great nothing like soggy wraps for breakfast.

When I opened the bag I was shocked to find most of the water had absorbed into the food and out came the most delicious looking breakfast mix ever. It was packed full of hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausage, peppers and onions. A little water was still in the bag but once I poured it all out in a bowl to start the wraps I noticed it was not going to dry out, nor was it going to be soggy either.

Breakfast Breakfast 2I love the fact I was able to boil water and add it to the mix and walk away without having to worry about “burning” breakfast as I was folding laundry. The Breakfast Skillet tasted so good and was so easy to make, I think I found my new favorite breakfast food when I’m on the go, plus it would save a trip to McDonalds for a dried out burrito in the mornings. I added Mozzarella cheese and very light mustard to ours. This morning we managed to get 13 grams of protein in.

Thanks to the kids and their ability to eat so fast I was unable to get pictures of their lunch. My daughter Erin decided she wanted to give the freeze dried Buffalo Chicken a try. She wanted to add blue cheese and mozzarella cheese. I did manage to sneak in a bit and I’m still trying to figure out  how freeze dried food can taste so good. We had a lot left, seeing it tasted so good we used the rest of it to make the greatest chicken wing dip I have ever had. Hunter thought it was too spicy so we made the freeze dried chicken salad. With it being warm neither of us cared to much for it, but once we put it in the refrigerator and it was cold it made a great lunch. It was loaded with chicken and cranberries which gave it a sweet and yet delectable taste.

All of these were made from the pouch they came in and with no mess it was an easy breakfast and lunch, and clean up was simple. If you have any left all you do is close up the pouch and refrigerate.

We have a special giveaway for our readers. How about a box packed full of some of the most amazing food. You can take it camping, or just eat at home. All that is required is hot water and a few minutes to let it sit and cook. Our sponsor has offered one of our readers a chance to try Mountain House Best Seller Kit which contains

Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs and Cheese with Ham

Entrees: Beef Stroganoff with Noodles

Lasagna with Meat Sauce

Chicken Teriyaki with Rice

Beef Stew

Dessert: Raspberry Crumble

Nifty- Nifty (Hand Free Accessories) Review

I can not count the number of times I have dropped my iPod while running. Yes. I know you can buy those expensive holder, but I’m one for buying what I need and not what I want. Of course by doing reviews I find things I did not really think I needed until I’ve had a chance to try them out. It seems 9 out of 10 times I find myself switching products that are more convenient for my family.

I was contacted by Nifty-Nifty a few weeks ago to try out one of their hand free accessories. After looking through their website and seeing the products they have offer and the prices I knew this was one review I could not lose out on.

bagThis particular bag can clip to anything you are wearing. It has a zipper pouch which I found great to carry my iPod in while running. Not once has it fallen out so I know I’m going to save money on replacing screens. Plus I found it convenient that I could put cash in it. This bag also has another pouch without a zipper, and found my iPod did not slip out. This bag runs $22.99 plus free shipping and is rain proof. I have taken in outside many times in the rain and nothing inside seems wet so this is another plus. Later this month we are taking the kids to a water park so this bag will come in extra handy.

Nifty-Nifty carries many styles of bags, wallets, cord managers, and eyeglass holders. I’m sure you’ll find something for everyone in the family.

Arctic Zero Ice Cream Review

artic ZeroWe were recently given a chance to try Arctic Zero Ice Cream. After reading a few bad reviews it made me want to try it even more. I mean really how can ice cream be nothing but heavenly good on a sweltering hot day. Packed the kids up and went to our local Walmart were they seemed to be the only ones who sold it. The kids decided on the Vanilla Maple, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter in the pints. Which were the only two kinds that were in stock at the time, when I know there are at least 7 different kinds which can be bought on

arctic 2

For a bedtime snack the kids oped for their ice cream. I had to be a little faster than the kids on this one so I could get a taste of what turned out to be the most amazing ice cream I have ever had.

I recall when I was younger the corner store used to sell real homemade Italian Ice that was to die for on a hot day. The Arctic Zero Ice cream came close to the same taste as I remember as a kid, plus had the same texture. The Vanilla Maple was great. It was not  strong but you know it was there. I never recalled ever having Chocolate Peanut Butter Italian ice, but I can only imagine it would taste like heaven.

I love the fact the kids loved this ice cream. It’s very healthy having only  45 Calories, 0 grams of fat per serving, and only 6 and 7 grams of sugar. Plus I know I can eat this without feeling guilty.

Arctic Zero not only taste great, but it’s also healthy. shhh the kids don’t have to know.
